Who We Are:

The Orthodox Union (OU) is the largest Orthodox Jewish organization in the United States. Founded in 1898, the OU supports a network of synagogues, youth programs, Jewish and Religious Zionist advocacy programs, programs for the disabled, localized religious study programs, and international units. The OU maintains a kosher certification service, whose circled U symbol, Ⓤ , is found on the labels of many kosher commercial and consumer food products.

 

Position Summary:
Serve as the “first line of defense” for those who have experienced an antisemitic incident in high school or on campus and are in need of resources.

 

Typical Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Gather and record incident information.
  • Make initial assessments.
  • Point “clients” toward / connect them with appropriate services, such as lawyers, therapists, school systems, and nonprofit organizations.
  • Provides support to motivate clients to successfully accomplish objectives set in the service plan. Ie. help them “see it through”.
  • Build and maintain an extensive bank of resources including but not limited to lawyers, therapists, school systems, and nonprofit organizations that offer the relevant services.
  • Maintain a system for follow-up with all “clients”.

 

Skills & Qualification Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college.
  • Paralegal training or Masters in Social Work preferred.
  • CRM management experience.
  • Research and organizational skills to build and maintain a bank of resources.
  • Ability to assess resources needed on a case-by-case basis.
  • “Bedside manner” – the ability to make “clients” feel comfortable reporting incidents and feeling supported as they navigate next steps.

 

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is between $50,000 and $60,000.
