Background:

Yachad Long Island, a division of Yachad New York has an exciting opportunity for a creative, energetic, driven and highly organized individual to join our staff as an Assistant Program Director.  Our goal is to provide fun, inclusive, social, and recreational programs for children, youth, and adults with disabilities.

 

Position Summary:

The Assistant Program Director will be part of the Long Island team and will contribute to the programs and services in the Long Island region. Working under the direction and support of the Director of Yachad Long Island, and alongside the Program Director, the Assistant Program Director will help create and implement a multitude of social programs that support individuals with disabilities and their families. Excellent customer service is key when serving Yachad participants, their families, volunteers, and staff. Our goal will be to deliver meaningful programs and services to those who need our help, with a mindset of growth in both membership and the number of programs we offer on an ongoing basis. This position requires knowledge of programing and of the community. The focus will be on ensuring that the region is strategically growing in current and new areas to best serve the local special needs community. Emphasis on working with individuals with disabilities and providing inclusive opportunities to socialize with peers. This is a part-time position, with potential for growth.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Planning program series with Program Director, ordering supplies and supervision onsite of 2- 3 of the weekly programs.
  • Input attendance into report system.
  • Collect and record payments.
  • Assists in the planning of larger event/ Shabbatons. Will help register participants, assist in bookings. Invite staff, and necessary support staff.
  • Assist in staff management, payment, and recruitment.
  • Order supplies when needed.
  • Participate in weekly team meeting.
  • Manage general email.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Understanding of Jewish values and practice.
  • Preferably, the candidate has experience with individuals with disabilities.
  • Demonstrates ability to develop relationships with diverse groups and creates interesting, engaging and developmentally appropriate programs.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, attention-to-detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Ability to manage purchasing of supplies, food and equipment and maintaining invoices, record keeping, tracking receipts and program costs.
  • Knowledge of word, excel, PowerPoint, zoom, and other online or database tools.  Willingness to learn new Yachad database and online apps.
