Director of NJ Adult Services

DEPARTMENT: NJ YACHAD

BACKGROUND: Yachad offers vocational services in the New Jersey area throughout the year. NJ Yachad’s Vocational Training Program provides services for young adults ages 21+ with a wide range of special need to learn skills necessary to work and be part of the broader community. Services include social skills groups, hands on volunteer work, resume writing, interview skills, individual counseling and more. As a Medicaid provider, Yachad is certified as an agency of DDD and assists families in accessing funds for the programs we provide. NJ Yachad is a warm and friendly work environment, with a professional staff to support the needs of those we serve.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Adult Services is responsible for overseeing all aspects of NJ Adult Vocational Program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Oversee Vocational Training Program
Supervise staff including job coaches and specialists
Conduct and coordinate intakes and assessments on new clients
Ongoing communication with participant families
Oversee training of Yachad Vocational staff

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to interact well with a wide variety of people
Ability to think flexibly
Team Player
Bachelor’s degree required, Masters preferred
Experience working with adults with disabilities preferred but not required.
Knowledge of the state system, including Medicaid, DD and DVRS preferred but not required
Knowledge of the special education system, IEP’s, transition, etc. preferred but not required

Additional Information & Responsibilities:

This position has supervisory responsibilities.
This is a full time position
There will be some out of office meetings in this position.
