Job Title: Mashgiach 

Organization: Orthodox Union  

Location: George Washington University, Washington, D.C. 

Work Hours: 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM (Part-time) 

Hourly Wage: $28 per hour 

Job Description: 

Summary: The Orthodox Union is looking for a Mashgiach to service the Hillel at George Washington University Campus. We are seeking a dedicated and responsible individual to fill the position of Mashgiach. The Mashgiach is responsible for overseeing the kosher food preparation and kitchen operations at the Hillel, ensuring that all dietary laws and regulations are adhered to.  

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Supervision of Kosher Kitchen Operations: 

• Oversee all aspects of food preparation and service to ensure strict adherence to kosher dietary laws. 
• Verify the kashrus of all incoming food products and ingredients. 
• Monitor kitchen staff to ensure they are trained in kosher food handling practices. 

Food Sourcing and Inventory: 

• Maintain a record of all food items used in the kitchen, including their kashrus status. 
• Collaborate with suppliers to ensure a steady supply of kosher ingredients and products. 

Record-Keeping: 

• Maintain meticulous records related to food sourcing, kashrus certifications, and kitchen cleanliness. 
• Ensure all required documentation for kosher certification is up to date. 

 

 

Qualifications: 

• Strong knowledge of Jewish dietary laws (kashrus) and a commitment to maintaining a kosher environment. 
• Previous experience in a similar role or relevant food service experience preferred. 
• Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and needs.
