NCSY Los Angeles City Director
Who We Are:
NCSY, a division of the Orthodox Union, is the premier organization dedicated to connecting, inspiring and empowering Jewish teens and encouraging passionate Judaism through Torah and tradition. Its operations include Jewish-inspired after-school programs; summer programs in Israel, Europe, and the United States; weekend programming, shabbatons, retreats, and regionals; Israel advocacy training; and disaster relief missions
Position Summary:
Serve as a Role Model and Provide informal Jewish education to teens designed to connect and inspire and ultimately empower them to become well-rounded Jewish young adults. This is done through creating the culture of NCSY, which is providing opportunities for a consistent upward trajectory of growth for teens and the community. The Goal of NCSY programming is to Change Lives. Through relationships, Jewish education, and immersive experiences we strive to maximize impact. This position will be working under the Director of Greater Los Angeles to help develop programming for the calendar year to best reach and impact students in your chapter.
Experience Requirments:
The ideal candidate has teen programming experience and experience in jewish education (informal or formal). The Candidate must be a charismatic, patient individual who is detail-oriented and flexible. The candidate must be able to relate to teens and adults alike, and act in a professional manner.
Essential Functions:
- Run 5-8 Jewish Clubs virtually/in-person or facilitate 8 JSU Institute clubs
- Run a minimum of 2 evening programs per week, may be in conjunction with other LA staff or current programming
- Learn with 5 unique chavrusas per week
- Host 2 Shabbos program per month, including meals with teens and families
- Attend Regional and local Shabbatons and events
- Engage a chapter of 1,000+ teens with incremental growth annually
- Develop a deeper relationship with 50 students
- Recruit 100+ teens to programming beyond the JSU space
- Recruit 40 teens to summer programs
- Work with Development team to friendraise and fundraise
Training and Development
- Attend semi-annual West Coast NCSY Staff Conference
- Attend Annual NCSY Staff Conference
- Weekly Staff meeting with WC Staff
- Weekly collaborative meetings with Los Angeles team
- Ongoing training and professional development
- Commitment to personal growth
Salary: $80,000-$90,000
Expected Hours: 40 hours weekly
